What the free website audit measures

The audit loads your page the way a visitor on a phone would and reports what it finds across five areas. These are real measurements of your live site, not a checklist of best practices, so the results are the same ones Google uses when it decides how your pages rank and the same ones your visitors feel.

    Performance

Core Web Vitals on a mobile profile: how quickly the main content appears, how soon the page responds to a tap, and whether the layout jumps around while loading.

    Mobile experience

Viewport setup, tap target sizes, readable text without zooming and content that fits the screen.

    Search fundamentals

Titles, descriptions, headings, indexability and structured data: the signals that decide whether the page can rank at all.

    Accessibility and technical quality

Contrast, alt text, labelled forms, keyboard access, HTTPS, and console errors that point to broken code.

What a low score usually means

    • Slow performance: uncompressed images, too many fonts, a page builder's bloated CSS and JavaScript, or third-party chat, tracking and consent scripts loading before your content.
    • Poor mobile experience: a desktop design squeezed onto a phone, with tiny links and text, and forms that are painful to complete.
    • Weak search fundamentals: duplicate or missing titles, no meta descriptions, several H1s or none, and pages accidentally set to noindex.
    • Accessibility failures: low-contrast grey text, images with no alt text and buttons that cannot be reached with a keyboard. These also carry legal risk in the US.

    What happens after the audit

Nothing, unless you want it to. The scorecard is yours to act on with your own developer. If the results point to a deeper problem, our website redesign and SEO and performance services fix the causes rather than the symptoms, and our care plans keep the score up after launch.

    Website audit questions

Is the website audit free and do I need to enter an email?

It is free and there is no email gate. Enter a URL, wait about thirty seconds while real measurements run, and read the scorecard on the page.

Why does the audit test on a mobile device profile?

Because that is how most of your visitors arrive and how Google evaluates your site. A page that feels fast on an office laptop can take four or five seconds on a mid-range phone over a cellular connection, and that is the experience that decides whether someone stays.

My Lighthouse score is high but the site feels slow. Why?

Lab scores and real-world experience measure different things. Heavy third-party scripts, slow interactions after load and layout shifts all hurt real users without necessarily tanking a lab score. We wrote about exactly this.

What do I do with a low score?

Start with whichever category scored worst. Performance problems are usually images, fonts and scripts; search problems are usually missing titles, descriptions and headings; accessibility problems are usually contrast, alt text and keyboard access.
